Wir bekommen ein sehr günstiges Mitauto und erkunden die Insel. Tja da ist ein IKEA. Wir wollten natürlich nichts kaufen aber kommen doch mit einer großen Tasche wieder raus. Weihnachten steht vor der Tür :-)
10/14/2015 – Lanzarote
We got a very cheep rental car and started our sightseeing tour. There is an IKEA! We stopped by and walked through. Of course we came out with a big bag. Christmas is coming soon. :-)
Weiter geht es nun von einem Point of Interest zum nächsten :-) Auf der ganzen Insel ist die Handschrift des Künstlers Cesar Manrique zu erkennen, welcher ein einflussreicher Maler, Bildhauer, Architekt und auch Berater der Regierung war. Das heißt keine Werbe Reklame, weiße flache Bauten und eben ein Zusammenspiel von Architektur und Natur.
We went ahead from one Point of Interest to the next one :-) You can feel and see everywhere the influence of the artist Cesar Manrique. He was an artist, architect and counselor for the government. There is no advertising, all the houses are white and there is a perfect design from architecture and the nature.
Jardin de Cactus – der Kaktusgarten – cactus garden
Viele Kakteen sind hier im Zusammenspiel mit einer Windmühle schön angebracht. Aloe Vera ist ja die Pflanze hier in Lanzarote. Blühende Kakteen sieht man überall.
Many cactus are in a perfect design with a windmill. Also you can see the Aloe Vera and all kind of cactus everywhere.
Jamos del Agua – eine Höhle im Inneren eines Vulkantunnels. Das besondere an dieser Höhle ist ein innen liegender See in dem es eine einzigartige Krebsart gibt. Alles ein sehr harmonisches Zusammenspiel zwischen Natur und Architektur!

Miraldor del Rio – Der spektakulärste Ausblick auf 475 Meter Höhe hier auf Lanzarote. Man sieht auf die Nachbarinsel La Graciosa. Auch hier hat Manrique die Gestaltung der Aussichtspunktes nebst Räumen übernommen.

Parque Nacional de Timanfaya – Der Feuerberg oder das Tor zur Hölle.
Hier spaltete sich 1730 die Erde und es gab immer wieder heftigste Vulkanausbrüche. 1824 war der letzte Ausbruch. Ein Viertel von Lanzarote ist tote Vulkanlandschaft. Langsam, nach nun ca. 300 Jahren, sieht man wie die Vegetation und Tiere zurückkommen. Sehr beeindruckend. Aus den vorhandenen heißen Erdlöchern werden Dampffontänen demonstriert und es wird gezeigt, wie man diese Energie auch zum Kochen noch nutzen kann.

In 1730 the earth spitted and there were many volcano eruptions. 1824 was the last eruption. 25 % from Lanzarote is a bleak landscape, however the vegetation starts coming back after more than 300 years. Very impressive. From the hot holes in the ground they demonstrated fountains of steam and showed how to cook with this energy.
16.10.2015 - Wieder stellt sich die große Frage was tun, denn das Wetter sagt wie schon so oft Gegenwind mit 5-6 Bft. Wir entscheiden nun in die Marina Rubicon am südlichsten Punkt von Lanzarote zu segeln, da dies nun ein besserer Ausgangspunkt ist. Es war ein sportlicher Ritt mit Windstärke 6 – 7 Bft. und einer Welle von ca. 2 – 3 Metern. Mit durchschnittlich 8 kn und gerefften Segeln segelten wir hoch am Wind.
10/16/2015 – Always the same question – what should we do, because the weather forecast is so bad (headwind with 5-6 Bft.). We decided to do a short step to Marina Rubicon on the southern side of Lanzarote. This should be a better option for us to go ahead. It was a rough ride with Bft. 6 to 7 and a wave with 2 – 3 meters. We sailed close hauled with 8 kn.
Die Marina Rubicon ist erstklassig und wirklich weiter zu empfehlen. Alles in allem ist Lanzarote mal einen Kurzurlaub wert und für Segler wäre es auch mal zu empfehlen hier einen Winter zu verbringen. Und wir warten nun auf das passende Wetterfenster um nach Teneriffa zu segeln.
The Marina Rubicon is absolutely great. All in all Lanzarote is a place where you can enjoy a short vacation and for sailors it is a perfect place to stay over the winter time. Now we are waiting for the perfect window to go forward to Tenerife.
